Bear – čims – is an important creature and character in Nuu-chah-nulth art and culture. Often times seen at the base of a totem pole, they uphold natural law and play an integral part in the cycle of the nature world. By bringing their catch of salmon deep into the forest, they play a major role in the natural balance of the ecosystems.
